I walked through an old manor house last weekend.
Blickling Estate, Norfolk. One room had an entire wall covered in vintage ads. Bovril. OXO. Rowntree's. Schweppes. Hand-illustrated, hand-lettered, every one of them.
I stood there longer than I should have because as far as ads go, they were beautiful.
Somebody spent hours on each of these. The right colour. The right typeface. Composition that drew your eye exactly where it needed to go.
These weren't impressions. They were craft.
We can generate 1,000 ads in seconds now. That's part of the future. But it's not the only part.
When everyone has the same tools, the same automation, the same speed, what separates you?
Taste. Care. Aesthetics. Connection.
Brand is becoming the last defensible asset. Physical and digital. Brand leads to products, products lead to experiences, and experiences build the kind of loyalty no algorithm can replicate.
The more AI accelerates production, the more the considered and the human becomes scarce. And scarce is valuable.
Those ads weren't trying to be efficient. They were trying to be remembered.
That's still the job.
