It’s no secret that Nike has had a rough patch lately.

Sales are down. The stock is falling.

But there's one thing they have that few can match.

It’s not just a logo and slogan, it’s a whole identity.

Nike hasn't just built a brand, but a belief system.

They stand for something, and they're not willing to put it all on the line for a quick profit.

Phil Knight summed it up well, "when you stand for something, you polarize people. They either love you or hate you. And the greater the love, the greater the hate."

Nike live up to their slogan. They're not afraid to take risks and make bold moves that other brands would shy away from.

I was going through old adverts I’d saved recently (yes I should probably go outside), and I came across the iconic Nike advert with Colin Kaepernick.

When everyone is questioning if Nike is still the same powerhouse they once were, I think it’s a great reminder of what it is which makes them so special.

They were willing to put the brand on the line for something they believed in - and it paid off.

Brands that stand for something, will always stand out.

Even if they stand alone.

If anyone can turn around their recent results, Nike can.
