As someone who voices a point of view when it comes to marketing and technology, I think it's equally important to voice my thoughts on more important matters.

We're approaching the festive period, a time of joy for many around the world, and this week we'll have one of the largest days of shopping in the retail year, Black Friday.

Where billions will be spent on consumer goods which are wants, not needs.

It's important to take a moment of gratitude for everything we have in our lives. For our families, friends, health, safety and all that we're thankful for.

As the harsh reality is, especially this year, hundreds of thousands across the world won't have a Christmas, a family to celebrate with, or anything to look forward to, with all that matters day to day right now being survival.

There are clear injustices taking place right now in Gaza and still in Ukraine.

The human cost of these conflicts is immense.

While politics does not, and will never interest me, there is a clear difference between right and wrong.

And it's absolutely devastating to see what's happening in Gaza.

Right now, on the community forecasting platform Metaculus, there is a 20% predicted chance of a third world war before 2050. If this annual risk stays the same for the next fifty years, it would mean another world war before the end of the century is more likely than not.

This is a scary yet sobering thought.

While there is very little we can do in situations like these, there are causes out there helping through humanitarian aid, which is needed now more than ever.

And it's important to continue spreading awareness of the injustices taking place.

There is no side to pick in this.

Preservation of human life is the side to pick.
