4 months ago I called it.
OpenAI partnering with Disney.
Today it's real.
When the most powerful generative tools integrate with the most powerful IP holders, creativity scales, but so does narrative gravity.
Think about what this actually means. A teenager in their bedroom can now create Pixar-quality animations. A solo creator can build immersive worlds with characters that took Disney a century to develop.
The same rendering pipelines. The same character models. The same storytelling tools.
That's not democratisation. That's detonation of the old creative order.
But here's what worries me: are we teaching AI to build new worlds, or just remix the ones we already know?
The optimist in me sees millions of new storytellers finally getting their shot. The realist wonders if we're just training machines to photocopy our cultural past at infinite scale.
Disney spent 100 years building these characters. OpenAI spent just a few years building the tech to replicate anything. When those two forces combine, we don't just get new tools.
We get a fundamental question about creativity itself.
Will we use this moment to tell stories that couldn't exist before? Or will we just make the 10,000th version of a princess in a castle?
The tools don't care. But we should.
Because when everyone can make a Disney film, the real question becomes: who's brave enough to make something else?
I'm betting on the builders who use these tools to create what Disney never imagined.
That's where the real magic happens.
