9pm last night, I crossed the finish line.
2 marathons, in 2 days.
The hardest challenge I’ve ever done, physically and mentally.
There was a rollercoaster of feelings throughout, with highs, and a lot of lows, especially on day two.
12.5 miles in on the second run. I didn’t think I had it in me, the legs were killing, and the blisters from the day before were burning.
But somehow, I pushed through and 2 - 3 miles later... something changed. I knew I was going to get it done no matter the cost.
Saturday morning I woke up, and the first thought had was why on earth did I sign up to this?
I made a commitment to myself, I said I was going to do it, so had to get it done. Taking myself beyond my limits and pushing through pain.
But the bigger reason is to raise money for a great cause, supporting Men’s Health through Movember.
In the time it took me to run the 2 marathons, 580 men would have taken their own lives globally. That needs to change.
All month at Initiative, we’ve been raising money, and we need your help: https://lnkd.in/egAy2Cp7
Movember is a leading charity doing some amazing work to change the face of men’s health focusing on issues including:
- Mental health and male suicide prevention - 3 out of 4 suicides in the UK are by men.
- Prostate cancer – 1 in 8 men in the UK will be diagnosed in their lifetime.
- Testicular cancer - the most common cancer among men.
More information can be found here - https://uk.movember.com/
Thank you to all those who’ve supported me throughout the two Marathons and especially the Mo Bros at Initiative.
